Eurovision Song Contest Wiki

Wencke Myhre is a Norwegian schlager singer who started her career in 1960 when singer and producer Arne Bendiksen gave her her first recording contract. She has scored many hits in the Norwegian, Danish, German and Swedish markets and languages and in 1960 became the first performer to have three songs in the Top 10 simultaneously.

After three failed attempts to represent her home country on the Eurovision stage, she was selected to represent Germany in the Eurovision Song Contest 1968 in London with the song "Ein Hoch der Liebe", which finished in 6th place with 11 points.

In 1983, she went on to compete in the German national finals as well as appearing as one of Jahn Teigen's chorus girls in the Norwegian national finals but withdrew from the latter and was replaced by singer Anita Skorgan, who duetted with Teigen in Munich.

Since then, she has competed a further two times in the Norwegian national finals, finishing in 3rd place and losing out in the second semi-final, respectively.
