Thérèse Steinmetz is a Dutch retired singer who started her career in the mid-1960s, starring various theatre, television and film roles before being give her own self-named TV series.
Following a performance of all six songs in the national final, she was selected to represent her home country in the Eurovision Song Contest 1967 in Vienna with the song "Ring-dinge-ding", which finished in a lowly 14th place with just 2 points awarded by both the juries from Ireland and the United Kingdom respectively, continuing the country's run of poor results that decade.
Four years later, she competed in and subsequently won the Golden Stag Festival in Braşov, Romania, beating another former Contest participant Lize Marke into second place. This resulted in her becoming very popular singer in the country, performing a folk music-based repertoire. She continued to make several television appearances in her home country throughout the 1970s.
Since retiring from the music industry she has lived in Cannes for many years, where she has become a successful painter and owns and runs an art gallery and workshop.
