Sean Dunphy was an Irish singer who began his career as the lead singer of showband The Hoedowners. Throughout his career he released several singles, both as a member of the group and as a soloist.
He was selected to represent his home country at the Eurovision Song Contest 1967 in Vienna with the song "If I Could Choose", which finished as runner-up to "Puppet on a String" by Sandie Shaw, who represented the United Kingdom.
Post-Contest, he continued to perform live right up to the eve of his death on 17 May 2011 at the age of 73.
