Sandie Shaw is a retired British singer who began her career in 1964 and became one of the most successful British singers of the decade.
She was internally selected to represent her home nation at the Eurovision Song Contest 1967 in Vienna and won with 47 points with her song "Puppet on a String", giving the nation the first of its five wins to date.
In the 1970s she retired from singing to focus solely on songwriting but during the 1980s she returned to the music scene as a performer and released two studio albums during that decade.
Following a career lasting nearly five decades, she announced her retirement in 2013.
