Robert Cogoi was the stage name of Belgian singer Mirko Kogoj. In 1961 he signed a record deal and the following year won the Grand Prix International des Variétés at the Casino in Ostend. Throughout his career he released over a dozen studio albums, EPs and singles.
He is best known internationally for representing his home country in the Eurovision Song Contest 1964 in Copenhagen with the song "Près de ma rivière", which finished in joint 10th place with 2 points alongside the entry by Anneke Grönloh of The Netherlands.
Post-Contest, he continued to release studio albums and singles with modest success before appearing in the film Les arpents dorés in 1976.
He spent the following years out of the limelight before making an appearance at the Belgian national final in 2005 alongside other Contest participants.
He died 14 May 2022 at the age of 82.
