Neco is the stage name of Turkish singer and actor Tahir Nejat Özyılmazel who started his career in 1964 with the Altınparmaklar Orkestrasıyla before spending the next two years with the Çizgiler Orkestrasıyla.
In 1971, he had one of the leading roles in the famous musical “Hair”. In the middle of 1974, he returned to music and started to perform solo under the name of Neco and released his debut single that year. However, he is best known internationally for representing his home country in the Eurovision Song Contest 1982 in Harrogate with the song "Hani?", which finished in 15th place with 20 points, just a single point behind the entry by group Aska of Yugoslavia.
Post-Contest, he made three more unsuccessful attempts to represent his home country and in 1989, he gained a great success with his role as Ché in the world-famous Evita musical before his overseas festivals, competitions and concerts began the following year, making him one of the country's most successful artist's of all time.
