Michael Schulte is a German pop singer-songwriter who started his career in 2008 when he began publishing cover songs on YouTube. In 2011, he participated in the first season of The Voice of Germany, finishing in third place. He released his debut album Wide Awake the following year.
He won the right to represent his home country at the Eurovision Song Contest 2018 in Lisbon with his song "You Let Me Walk Alone". He directly qualified for the final due to the country's status as a "Big Five" nation and finished in 4th place with 340 points, giving the country its best result since Lena won the 2010 Contest in Oslo.
