Mary Roos is the professional name of German singer and actress Rosemarie Schwab. Having released her first single at the age of nine and starred in several films she began focusing properly on her music career in 1965 and after more than five decades has released nearly thirty studio albums, three hits compilations and several singles.
She was first selected to represent her home country in the Eurovision Song Contest 1972 in Edinburgh with the song "Nur die Liebe lässt uns leben", which finished in 3rd place with 107 points, the third time in a row that the country had achieved this result.
After a few more failed attampts, she returned twelve years later in Luxembourg City to represent her home country with the song "Aufrecht geh'n", which fared less well than her previous appearance on the Contest stage as it finished in 13th place with 34 points and would be her last hit in her home country until 1999.
Since her Contest appearances, she has continued to perform live and remains a very popular figure in the schlager genre in her home country. In 2024, she made an appearance at the German national final to mark forty years since her last appearance in the Contest.
