Lulu is the stage name of Scottish singer-songwriter and actress Marie McDonald McLaughlin Lawrie. She began her music career in 1964 and has released fifteen studio albums to date and is best known for her songs "Shout" and the theme tune to the 1974 James Bond film "The Man with the Golden Gun".
She was internally selected to represent her home nation at the Eurovision Song Contest 1969 in Madrid with the song "Boom Bang-a-Bang", which gave the country its second win. It also shared the victory with the entries from France, Spain and The Netherlands - the only time in the Contest's history that this has happened.
She has also acted in films such as "To Sir With Love", for which she also performed the theme tune and in the 1990s she scored her first-ever #1 single in her homeland when she collaborated with boyband Take That on their cover of "Relight My Fire".
She appeared at the closing ceremony of the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow performing her Eurovision winner.
