The Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2023 was the 21st edition of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest and was held at the Palais Nikaia in Nice, France following Lissandro's win at the 2022 Contest in Yerevan with the song "Oh maman!". This is the second time in three editions that the country hosted the event.
The main show was presented by Olivier Minne, who hosted the 2021 contest in Paris, and Laury Thilleman, who was crowned Miss France 2011. This makes Minne the fourth person to present the contest more than once, following Kim-Lian van der Meij, Timur Miroshnychenko and Ida Nowakowska. Social media influencer Ophenya acted as a supplementary presenter and "digital ambassador".
Sixteen countries competed with Germany, which withdrew from competing the previous year in Yerevan, returning, marking the first time that all of the members of Eurovision's "Big Five" competed together. Kazakhstan and Serbia have withdrawn while Estonia made its debut and was the first Baltic state to participate in the 2020s since Lithuania and Latvia withdrew in 2012.
175 countries from across Europe and around the world participated in the online voting during the 2023 edition.
France won for the third time in 4 years with "Cœur" by Zoé Clauzure winning both the jury vote and the televote, making it the second time a country has scored back-to-back wins. With the victory, France now ties Georgia for the most wins at the Junior Eurovision contest. Completing the podium was Spain with "LOVIU" by Sandra Valero and Armenia with "Do It My Way" by Yan Girls. The United Kingdom improved on its 5th-place finish a year prior by finishing 4th, with Ukraine rounding out the top 5. Germany recorded its best-ever JESC finish in its return, placing 9th.
