The Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2022 was the 20th edition of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest and was held at the Karen Demirchyan Complex in Yerevan, Armenia on 11 December 2022 thanks to Maléna's win in Paris the previous year with the song "Qami Qami".

Sixteen countries participated. The United Kingdom returned for the first time since 2005 following the country's success at the 2022 Eurovision Song Contest in Italy. Azerbaijan, Bulgaria and Germany withdrew, while Russia was forced to withdraw as a result of sanctions following the country's invasion of Ukraine earlier in the year.

The 2022 theme was Spin the Magic. The artwork revolved around a spinning top, a toy common across the world, which unleashes neon colors as it brings children together. Hovhannes Movsisyan, CEO of AMPTV said: "This perfectly reflects the values of Junior Eurovision — everyone is united around the idea of magic, music and joy, and at the same time presenting a different song and performance.”

The show was presented by songwriter Garik Popoyan (best known for writing the 2014 Armenian Eurovision entry "Not Alone"), 2016 Armenian Eurovision representative Iveta Mukuchyan, and 2019 Junior Eurovision representative Karina Ignatyan.

Many former winners returned to help celebrate the Contest's 20th anniversary, with several of them acting as jury spokespersons during the results.

France won for the second time in 3 years with the song "Oh maman!" by Lissandro, with host country Armenia as runner-up while Georgia rounded out the Top 3. Ireland and Portugal both recorded its best results in JESC finishing 4th and 8th respectively, and in its return the United Kingdom finished in 5th.
