Jeangu Macrooy is a Surinamese musician and singer-songwriter.
He began his career in 2011 when he formed a duo with his brother and they released their only studio album. He moved to The Netherlands in 2014 and has become popular there, in his birth country, Germany, France and Belgium.
He was internally selected to represent his adopted home country at the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 in Rotterdam with the song "Grow" and as a representative of the host nation he had direct qualification for the final.
Following the cancellation of the Contest due to the coronavirus pandemic sweeping through Europe, it was confirmed that he would return to represent his home country at the Eurovision Song Contest 2021 in Rotterdam, where he once again acted as the host entrant with the song "Birth of a New Age". Due to this, he had direct qualification for the final, finishing in 23rd place with 11 points.
