Galit Burg was an Israeli singer who was best known internationally for representing her home country alongside 12-year old singer Gili Netanel in the Eurovision Song Contest 1989 in Lausanne with the song "Derech Ha-melech", which finished in 12th place with 50 points. The participation caused controversy due to Netanel's age as well as that of French entrant Nathalie Pâque, and would lead to the EBU introducing a minimum age rule of 16 years old in the year of participation for the following year onwards.
Post-Contest, the duo worked together once more before going onto solo projects. In 1991, she created the band "Tremp" and later married the band's guitar player in 1996, living with him for a while in the USA until the two were divorced. In 1995, she was nominated to replace hostess Merav Lavin for the Israeli format of "Wheel of Fortune", but lost to Ruth Gonzales. In 1997, she released a dance song named "You Are the One" in Europe under the nickname "Galecia".
in the early to mid-2000s, she remarried and changed her name to Galit Shira Burg and released an album of duets with her husband. In 2013, she auditioned for the first season of the national syndication of The X Factor', but failed to pass her audition.
She died on 28 November 2022 at the age of 54, leaving behind her husband and kids, when her car collided with truck.
