Françoise Hardy was a retired French singer-songwriter who began her career in 1962 and was seen as one of the country's biggest stars. Over a career of almost six decades, she released dozens of studio albums and singles and was also a famous figure on the French fashion scene while also having acted in some films and many of her songs have appeared in films and TV shows over the years.

She was chosen to represent Monaco at the Eurovision Song Contest 1963 in London with the song "L'amour s'en va", which finished in joint 5th place with the entry from France.

In 2021, she announced her retirement from performing due to health issues, eventually succumbing to laryngeal cancer on 11 June 2024 at the age of 80.
