François Deguelt was a French singer who began his career in the 1950s as a cabaret singer.
He is best known for representing Monaco at the Eurovision Song Contest 1960 in London with the song "Ce soir-là", which finished in 3rd place with 15 points.
He returned two years later in Luxembourg City, again representing Monaco with the song "Dis rien", which finished as runner-up with 13 points to "Un premier amour" by Isabelle Aubret of France. This result made him one of only five Eurovision acts (alongside Cliff Richard, Katja Ebstein, Chiara Siracusa and Željko Joksimović) to have finished as both runner-up and in 3rd place without having won.
He remained a popular figure on the Francophone music scene until his death on 22 January 2014 at the age of 81.
