Eurovision Song Contest Wiki

Doce was a Portuguese girlband formed in 1979 consisting of Laura Diogo, Lena Coelho, Fátima Padinha, Teresa Miguel and Fernanda da Sousa. Considered to be one of the first girlbands in Europe, they released two studio albums and several singles.

They are best known for representing their home country in the Eurovision Song Contest 1982 in Harrogate with the song "Bem bom", which finished in 13th place with 32 points, just 8 points behind the entry by Jahn Teigen and Anita Skorgan of Norway, both of whom had already appeared on the Contest stage separately from 1977 to 1979. It was the second appearance for both Fátima Padinha and Teresa Miguel, who had represented their home country four years earlier in Paris as part of the group Gemini, who finished in 17th place.

Post-Contest, they continued to release music until their split in 1987 and Fernanda da Sousa would later have notable success in the country as Ágata.
