Destiny Chukunyere is a Maltese singer from Birkirara. She won the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2015 for her homeland with the song "Not My Soul". She was the second JESC winner from Malta, following Gaia Cauchi achieving the nation's first win in 2013.

Early Life

Chukunyere was born in Birkirara, Malta on August 29 2002. Her father is former Nigerian professional footballer Ndubisi Chukunyere, and her mother is Maltease. She has two younger siblings, a sister named Melody and a brother named Isaiah.

Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2015

In August 2015, Chukunyere auditioned for Malta's Junior Eurovision selection where she performed the song "Think" by Aretha Franklin. She won the live final and was chosen to represent the nation in the 2015 Junior Eurovision.

She then sang the song "Not My Soul" in the Arena Armeec in Sofia, Bulgaria on November 21 2015. She won the contest with a record 185 points which was the new highest score for a Junior Eurovision winner following Maria Isabel from Spain who won the contest in 2004 with 176 points.

Following her JESC win, Chukunyere appeared at the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 as a special guest. She then recorded the theme song for Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2016 "Embrace"

Post Junior Eurovision

In 2017, Chukunyere auditioned for the 2017 series of Britain's Got Talent where she auditioned with the song "Think" by Aretha Franklin. She received high praise from the judges and thus qualified for the live shows.

In the semi finals, she performed the song "R.E.S.P.E.C.T" but failed to qualify to the final.
