Claudio Villa was the stage name of Italian tenor and actor Claudio Pica. He was active in the entertainment industry from the age of six until his death and sold over 45 million records.
He first represented his home country at the Eurovision Song Contest 1962 in Luxembourg City with the song "Addio, addio", finishing in 9th place with 3 points.
He returned to represent his country five years later in Vienna with the song "Non andare più lontano", which finished in 11th place with 4 points.
Throughout his career he also turned to acting, starring in several films in his home country and he became known in the United States with an appearance in the 1996 film Big Night.
He died on 7 February 1987 of a sudden heart attack at the age of 61.
