Carlos do Carmo was a Portuguese fado singer who started his career in 1964 and throughout a career lasting five decades he released over a dozen studio albums and singles.

He is best known internationally for winning the inaugural Festival da Cançao and a result representing his home country in the Eurovision Song Contest 1976 in The Hague with the song "Uma flor de verde pinho", which finished in 12th place with 24 points.

Post-Contest, he continued to record and release music and tour worldwide as well as working with other well-known singers. He announced his retirement in 2019 and died on New Year's Day 2021 at the age of 81 following an aneurysm the previous day.
