Eurovision Song Contest Wiki

Bob Benny was the stage name of Belgian singer and theatre actor Emilius Wagemans. He began his career after the end of World War II and released several singles and albums.

He was chosen to represent his home country at the Eurovision Song Contest 1959 in Cannes with the song "Hou toch van mij" , finishing in joint 6th place with 9 points alongside the entry by Domenico Modugno of Italy.

He returned to represent his home country at the Eurovision Song Contest 1961 in Cannes with the song "September, gouden roos", but was less successful, finishing in second-last place with a single point.

He died on 29 March 2011 at the age of 84, nearly a decade after suffering a stroke.
