Bacchelli is the stage name of Spanish singer José María Bacchelli Ortega who started his career in 1977 by participating in the Benidorm Song Festival. Following this, he released his debut studio album and several singles.
He is best known internationally for representing his home country in the Eurovision Song Contest 1981 in Dublin with the song "Y sólo tú", which finished in 14th place with 38 points, just 2 points behind the entry by Emly Starr of Belgium.
Over the next two years, he released his second studio album and an EP but was unable to achieve the same level of exposure that his Contest entry gave him and did not release any more records in his home country.
Following a move to Ecuador, he released an EP and starred in a telenovela for which he also did the theme tune. Since then, he has been working as an artist manager.
