Ayşegül is the professional name of Turkish singer and actress Ayşegül Aldinç. Initially working as an artist and then as a music teacher before becoming internationally known for appearing in the Eurovision Song Contest 1981 in Dublin alongside the trio Modern Folk Trio with the song "Dönme Dolap", which finished in joint 18th place with 9 points alongside the entry by Carlos Paião of Portugal.

Post-Contest, she embarked on a solo career and to date has released over a dozen studio albums and singles and has also branched out into action onstage in many theatrical productions and films since her onscreen debut in 1987.
