Annie Palmen was a Dutch singer who began her career in the late 1950s with the release of her debut single. Over the next decade, she released a dozen singles.

She first attempted to represent her home country in 1960, but lost out to Rudi Carrell. Returning three years later, she managed to represent her home country in London with the song "Een speeldoos", which finished in joint last place, sharing Nul Points with the entries from Norway, Finland and Sweden. This made her home country the first to finish with this result two years in a row.

Post-Contest, she became a singer with the Boertjes van Buuten orchestra for the TV show Mik. Following the show's cancellation, she ended her career.

She died on 15 January 2000 at the age of 73 following a long illness.
