Eurovision Song Contest Wiki

Anita Spanner, known professionally by her first name, is an Austrian singer who came to national attention when she entered the Austrian national finals and was subsequently selected to represent her home country in the Eurovision Song Contest 1984 in Luxembourg City with the song "Einfach weg", which finished in last place with 5 points, all of which came from the Danish and the Irish juries.

Post-Contest, the song became a hit in her home country but follow-up releases failed to repeat its success and she made a second attempt to represent her home country in 1991 but only finished in 7th place of ten competing entries.

She later retired to raise a family but eventually returned to perform as part of a live band called Hit4You.
