Anggun is an Indonesian-born French singer-songwriter who began her career in the early 1990s when she released several albums in her country of birth, which established her as one of the biggest rock artists there at that time. She decided to move to France in 1994 in a bid to launch her international career. She has released over a dozen studio albums in Indonesian, French and English.
She was selected to represent her adopted home country at the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 in Baku with the song "Echo (You and I)", which directly qualified for the final due to the country's status as a "Big Five" nation, finishing in 22nd place with 21 points.
Post-Contest, she has acted as a judge on talent shows such as Asia's Got Talent and The X Factor.
