Alice Babs was the stage name of Swedish singer and actress Hildur Alice Nilson. She began her singing career during her teens and throughout the next six decades released several albums as well as starring in several films.
She is best known to international audiences for representing Sweden on its debut in the Eurovision Song Contest 1958 in Hilversum with the song "Lilla stjärna", which finished in 4th place with 10 points.
She retired from show business in 2004 and died on 11 February 2014 due to complications from Alzheimer's disease at the age of 90.
