Alexander Rybak is a Belarusian-born Norwegian singer who came to fame in 2005 as a participant on the Norwegian syndication of the Idol franchise, making it all the way to the semi-finals. To date, he has released five studio albums.
He won the Eurovision Song Contest 2009 with the song "Fairytale", giving the country its third and making him the youngest solo male winner of the Contest and the only Belarusian-born winner to date. This was also the highest-scoring winning entry in the Contest until 2016 when a new scoring system was introduced.
He returned to represent his country for the second time at the 2018 Contest in Lisbon with the song "That's How You Write a Song", which won the second semi-final but finished in 15th place with 144 points in the final.
He appeared as himself in a sing-a-long scene in the 2020 Will Ferrell film Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga and later made an appearance at the Luxembourg national final for the 2024 Contest to perform his winning entry in a medley which also included fellow winners Ruslana, Charlotte Perrelli and Katrina Leskanich.
