Alain Barrière was a French singer who started his career in 1961 after winning a song contest after moving to Paris. He signed a record deal and throughout the 1960s and 1970s he released dozens of singles and a couple of albums.

He is best known internationally for representing his home country in the Eurovision Song Contest 1963 in London with the song "Elle était si jolie", which finished in joint 5th place with 25 points with the entry from Monaco.

During the 1970s, he moved to the United States with his family but returned to France in 1979. He attempted to revive his music career several times to little avail but after another period spent overseas he returned to France, where his career was unexpectedly revived with the release of a CD containing his remastered hits. He also released his autobiography and more introspective albums.

He died on 18 December 2019 of a heart attack at the age of 84.
